ReplyDeleteHow grotesque! It would have killed them. They weren't petrol sniffers, they were petrol ingestors! I can remember as a very small child having to have a daily dose of tonic. I am buggered if I know what was in it. But it was pretty awful. Remember, alot of kids die in the 'old days', I suppose a mother would do anything to help them survive.
